Scarisoara Ice Cave is the biggest ice cave in the Apuseni Mountains of Romania.

It is considered one of the natural wonders and is located in the Apuseni Natural Park, a natural park category V protected by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The park is located in western Romania in the central-northern side of the Apuseni Mountains and features mountain peaks, cirques, caves, valleys, karst areas, forests and pastures, with flora and fauna specific to Western Carpathians. The region’s most famous attraction and one of about 4,000 local caves, Scarisoara Ice Cave was formed 3500 years ago, during the glacial periods, when these mountains were covered by snow and ice. With 100.000 m³ it is said to be the second largest ice cave in the world. Tourists can only visit the entrance shaft, The Big Hall and The Church, the other chambers being reserved for scientists. It is 1165 meter height and it has a length of 720 meter and a depth of 105 meter.
